The data above shows that a 30-year-old driver could lower their policy premium by $462 a year by switching from a $100 deductible to a $500 deductible, or save $698 by using a $1,000 deductible. Even younger drivers, like the Age 20 chart data, could potentially save up to $984 each year by choosing larger deductibles on their policy. When raising deductibles, it will now be necessary to have plenty of discretionary funds to enable you to pay the extra out-of-pocket expense, which is the one inconvenience of using high deductibles.
Finding the cheapest auto insurance for a school permit in Florida is the goal of the majority of people, and an effective way to buy cheap insurance is to not insure for full coverage. The diagram below illustrates the comparison of insurance rates with full phyical damage coverage and with liability coverage only. The prices are based on no claims or driving violations, $250 deductibles, single status, and no discounts are applied to the premium.
google.charts.setOnLoadCallback(drawFclqcibChart);function drawFclqcibChart() {var data = google.visualization.arrayToDataTable([[‘Age of Insured’, ‘Full Coverage with $250 Deductibles’, ‘Liability Only’],[‘Age 20’, 4141,1259],[‘Age 30’, 2153,691],[‘Age 40’, 2135,641],[‘Age 50’, 1935,599],[‘Age 60’, 1873,589],[‘Age 70’, 2263,787]]);var options = {title: ‘Full Coverage Versus Liability Only’,titleTextStyle: {color: ‘#333’,fontSize: 17,bold: true},width: ‘100%’,height: 500,’chartArea’: {left:100,top:50,’width’: ‘100%’, ‘height’: ‘70%’},legend: {position: ‘bottom’},colors: [‘#6791b9′,’#98bee2’],hAxis: {title: ‘Annual Auto Insurance Cost for Average Vehicle in Florida’,minValue: 0,format: ‘$###,###’},vAxis: {title: ‘Age of Insured’}};var formatter = new google.visualization.NumberFormat({fractionDigits: 0,prefix: ‘$’});formatter.format(data,1);formatter.format(data,2);var chart = new google.visualization.BarChart(document.getElementById(‘qcibfcl’));chart.draw(data, options);}
If averaged for all ages, comp and collision coverage costs an extra $2,417 per year over and above liability coverage. That is a big expense that brings up the question if full coverage is worth the money. There is no exact rule to exclude full coverage on your policy, but there is a general convention. If the yearly cost of comp and collision coverage is more than 10% of replacement cost minus your deductible, then it’s probably a good time to buy liability coverage only.
For example, let’s pretend your vehicle’s replacement cost is $6,000 and you have $1,000 physical damage deductibles. If your vehicle is severely damaged, the most your company will settle for is $5,000 after paying the physical damage deductible. If you are paying more than $500 a year to have full coverage, then it could be time to drop full coverage.
There are some cases where eliminating full coverage is not in your best interest. If you still owe money on your vehicle, you have to keep full coverage as part of the loan requirements. Also, if your savings is not enough to buy a different vehicle if your current one is damaged, you should keep full coverage.
